Specialist in medicine, biology, chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, molecular biology and immunology, able to apply technologies from unrelated fields to solve problems in biology and medicine. She possesses profound knowledge on stem cells, including transfer of cells in vivo, backed by over 40 years of experience of working in the biotechnology industry among others as a researcher, executive director and entrepreneur.
For many years she has been associated with the following academic and commercial institutions: Texas A&M University, Texas Tech University , University of Illinois, Amarillo VA Medical Center, Harrington Cancer Center and E. I. DuPont de Nemours & Company.
One of her many accomplishments was the design and execution of FDA-approved Phase I/II clinical trials of immunotherapy for breast and ovarian cancer, which involved the in vivo movement of activated radioactively labeled lymphocytes directed against tumor mucin on breast and ovarian cancer cells.
Currently, she is focused on developing an effective non-invasive stem cell delivery technology for heart repair and improvement of function and quality of life of people with heart disease. To achieve this, she has established TargaCell Corporation, where she acts as CEO.
In her spare time, she pursues her passion for painting ( in particular in the field of functional art), she trains swimming and martial arts. She also enjoys cooking and gardening.
